How to Create and Share Projects

Creating Projects is designed to make life easier by allowing you to organise your IFC files into different Projects. You can then invite members to your Projects and your IFC files. You can also share the IFC file capacity of your user account with other collaborators. From your Projects page you can view and create new Projects; these are similar to folders where you can upload several IFC files, should your project have separate relevant IFC files. Each Project can be shared with other registered Tridify users. If you want to include someone who is new to Tridify, simply ask them to set up their own, free Tridify account here: https://convert.tridify.com.

For example, you can have a dedicated Project folder for a building and then you can upload a couple of IFC files to that Project folder – one containing the architectural and structural design of the building and another one with engineering systems. You can upload IFC files from different sources, so you can use whichever software is most convenient for the different aspects of the project. For our conversion service it makes no difference as IFC becomes the common denominator, and most BIM software can export files into an IFC format.

1. Create new project

To create a new Project, click the ‘Create Project’ button on the right. A window will appear where you can name your new project. Give your Project a descriptive name which is easy for members of your team to understand

In this example we can see two projects on the Projects page. ‘My files’ is the default Project folder and ‘School’ is the new one. You can sort your projects by creation date, last update, name or date.

2. Add a member

Click on your new Project folder. Currently it has no files and is not shared with anyone. To share the Project, click ‘Members’.

Members list includes everyone who currently has access to the project. If the list is empty that means you are the only person with access to that project. You can give other people access to the project providing they have a Tridify account. If they don’t have an account, ask them to go to https://convert.tridify.com and open a free account.  Once they have done this, you can click the ‘Add Member’ button.

You will need to enter the email address that your member uses for their Tridify account. Then click ‘Add’.

Now the new member will be able to upload and convert files to this project using the IFC file capacity of your account. You can remove members by clicking on the Action menu and selecting ‘Remove user from project’.
